After dating this really awesome girl for almost 5 months, I realized that I wasn't ready for a serious relationship. Also, she had just gotten out of a long term relationship. And that freaked me out a little. So I did the right thing, and ended things with her in person. And did not ghost her or break up over a text message like a jerk.

Being dumped is no fun, even when it's done nicely. It's especially no fun when you travel to Manhattan from Brooklyn and there is no french toast as advertised. Why wasn't there break up french toast? In hindsight, the timing wasn't right and I had a few things I needed to accomplish.

TIMING IS EVERYTHING

Six months later, over Thanksgiving weekend, Brian realized that he was ready for something serious and began kicking himself for ending things with Michelle.

After another month of mulling it over, he finally reached out to her, asking if she wanted to grab a drink. Suspicious of his intentions, but entertained at the idea, Michelle agreed.

When they met up, Brian laid it all out to Michelle, apologizing for dumping her (and the lack of french toast) and asked for a second chance.

But as you might have guessed timing is everything, and in early 2012 Michelle wasn't ready to try again, flattered though she was by the pursuit (also she was kinda seeing somebody).

With his ego bruised, Brian accepted Michelle's answer, but noted that should she change her mind, she should give him a call.

But she never did...
